Garage 48 Happening in Nairobi This Weekend

Garage48 is an event that takes place in 48 hours. Developers meet, share ideas, choose the ideas they want to implement and develop those ideas into working service in those 48 hours.

It is currently ongoing at Strathmore University. I spoke to a few teams who are telling me what they are working on.

African Hands

These guys are creating a mobile application that will connect artists and sculptors with their target market. Artists can upload descriptions and pictures of their works, and buyers can scan these products and order them.

We Are Open

How would you like to know which places are open at certain times¿ This is a simple application that will tell you which places are open according to your location.. e.g. pharmacies, food joints etc.

Julisha

This is an alert service that can inform you if your ID/Passport/DL is ready, among other documents. Exams results can also be pushed to users, not just through SMS but also social media.

There are about 10 groups in total all with brilliant ideas. Please search for Garage48 Nairobi group to learn more about the current going-ons and vote for your favorite idea. I will blog more about it later.
